In this past week the High Highs’ Oli Chang has dropped half a dozen amazing new remixes over on his Sndcld. Don’t miss his redo of Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on the Sun” and Millionyoung “Replicants” - all stripped naked and repainted with piano and atmospherics. Absolutely lovely.
Oh, and speaking of the women of Tokyo’s Trippple Nippples… I can’t wait to tell you about #MEGABLAAG SXSW 2012. Sayin’. Shhhh. Here. Shhhh.

DNTEL aka Jimmy Tamborello shall hereby be sainted. For he hath performed a miracle — slaying Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi with his Nord sword, turning the song, in death, into something earpleasing. Boy would I kill to hear this on gigantic speakers.
The compilation, Pop Massacre, also has an amazingly melodic rework of Soulja Boy’s ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ by California whiz kid Schlohmo, and Mexicans with Guns twist ‘La Bamba’ into ‘La Bomba’… seriously, it sounds like they ran over poor Richie Valens with a steamroller. In a good way..(?)
And Strangeloop gives us the daydreamer’s Beach Boys, slicing Wouldn’t It Be Nice into the perfect soundtrack to a Tokyo club where everything’s glass and white leather, and Brian Wilson’s beckoning you over for a drink.

I’ve been meaning to post unouomedude’s (pron: you know you owe me dude) Nazcar Nation remix for a bit now. The original, which you can hear at Nazcar Nation’s bandcamp is lusher and generally a little too much sugar for my coffee. Harmonies are great but just wait, just wait.
Enter unouomedude, who turns those sweet little high school boy love lines into a serious love talk between robots, with the snappiest beats I’ve heard in a while, trilling on the hi-hat and vocal samples falling all over each other.
I could imagine it all being quite aggravating to my mother (who once coined the wonderful genre “car alarm music” for DJ Spooky and his ilk)
