Cube — Two Heads are Better Than One (1982)
Ready, set, dance. Very catchy synth-driven Italo-disco from Bologna in the early 80s. The trio is Englishman Paul Griffiths on guitar and vocals, backed by his Italian buddies Rudy Trevisi and Serse Mai, who play everything else, mostly stuff requiring a plug.

Sandii — Drip Dry Eyes
from Eating Pleasure (1980)
This is wild — disco-reggae from Japanese/Hawaiian singer Sandii and synth wizard Haruomi Hosono, who produced and arranged the album. (Most of the playing here is by Hosono and his bandmates in Yellow Magic Orchestra.) The wardrobe styling on the cover is apt for the album’s title, I suppose… lettuce cups?

Young Magic — Night in the Ocean
from Night in the Ocean b/w Slip Time (2011)
Blissed out yet..? As the title suggests, this is pretty much the sonic equivalent of running down the sand on a hot summer night, undressing along the way, and jumping into the water for a slow-motion swim in the moonlight. Let’s do that too.
This new track from Young Magic has a sort of buzzing electro-shoegaze magic to it that really tickles my fancy. In fact, I’m pretty much amped to hear a full length from this crew, or hell just another couple of gems like this and i’ll be a happy boy.
